Toronto native Rebekah Joy began creating music at the ripe age of nine. Having trained since she was six with Young Voices Toronto, she quickly found her identity as a musical artist, being selected to perform her first song, When You Left Me, at the Youth Day Global Festival at the age of 12. Her songwriting is marked by a profound gift for lyricism with a distinct voice and sound: passionate, raw and authentic. Growing up as a Third Culture kid, Rebekah Joy sees life through a complex lens, one that is poignant and hopeful, yearning and thoughtful. Her music strikes the heart in ways both uplifting and at times dirge-like with a devastating insight into topics like climate change, alcoholism, abandonment and adolescence, among others. Her debut single, Hannah’s Song (Suck It Up) was released August 14, 2026 and already had radio play on the Northern Wish Show with Stephen Stanley (Stephen Stanley Band; Lowest of the Low) on Hunters Bay Radio. It will be featured in the upcoming film, The Banquet, a Korean Thanksgiving family food comedy by Gloria Ui Young Kim. Her upcoming single, Rejoice For She Has Risen, will be featured in the short film, The Writer by Alexandre Freitas. When she’s not making music, she’s attending the prestigious Etobicoke School of the Arts and volunteering as the Podcast Director of the Canadian Youth Climate Action Team (CYCAT), a nationwide youth-led registered non-profit.
